Clearing Your Browser Cache

Why do I need to clear or refresh my cache?

Your browser stores certain information and items that have been previously downloaded for use in the future.  The cache exists to help make your internet browsing experience smoother and faster.  When you visit a page, the browser first checks to see if it already has a copy of files on that page and it will save you some downloading if it already does.  In some browsers, the cache is called Temporary Internet Files, so don't let this confuse you.

Sometimes, you don't want the files stored in the browsers cache to be loaded and hitting the refresh button won't work because it still is using the stored files in the cache.  This can happen when new versions of an LMS page exist, or sometimes even files in your cache can get corrupted.  This is when you want to refresh your cache.
